Education Day at the fair

Agricultural education is a large part of the mission statement of the Waterford Fair. To further support this goal, the fair has, for several years now, played host to Fort LeBoeuf School District 3rd grade students. This endeavor is further supported by the local Kiwanis Club. (Due to the pandemic interruption, the fair also hosted the 4th grade classes (2020 3rd grade students) in 2021.)
Wednesday of fair week is a very special day at the fair when students from Waterford, Mill Village and Robison Elementary schools arrive for an educational field trip. During their stay they’ll be exposed to a small sampling of “life on the farm”, and, some cases, a real “hands on” experience.
Returning to their classrooms, each student submits a written essay about their experiences on the fair fieldtrip, and the student with the best essay at each school is awarded a blue ribbon
and t-shirt.
We greatly appreciate and sup port this combined effort to involve our community’s youth in understanding the critical role local agriculture plays in our everyday life.
