The Waterford Community Fair for 2020 has become another victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.

​

At the regular monthly meeting held on Monday, July 13, the board of directors of the Waterford Community Fair, reluctantly and with a very heavy heart, conceded to the necessity of cancelling this year’s fair.

 

After taking into account all aspects of producing this week-long event, ultimately the health and safety of the thousands of local and out-of-town fair-goers, exhibitors, vendors and our volunteers was paramount in the decision.

While the committee had “proceeded cautiously” with fair planning, it became apparent staging the event as it is meant to be is no longer feasible while complying with state and local health department mandated restrictions.

The directors also expressed concern for the local businesses and sponsors who have been financially impacted by the pandemic. “We are confident the Waterford Fair and the Waterford community as a whole will emerge from this challenge stronger than ever.”

The Fair had been scheduled to start on Labor Day and run for a week.  Next year’s fair is scheduled for September 6-11, 2021.  

About The Waterford Community Fair: Founded in 1937 and a member of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs, the  fair promotes agricultural education and awareness in our area. The board of directors is charged with all facets planning, coordinating and administering the annual event.
