Each year members of  one of the Erie County 4H clubs raises a charity hog to be auctioned at The Waterford Fair Livestock Auction, with the proceeds to benefit a local charity.

The Mountain Top 4H club brought a 276 lb. hog to the auction and at the closing gavel locked in an impressive auction price of $10.00/lb. representing a total sale price of $2,760.  Jesse Fiske of the Fiske White Tail Deer Farm championed the high bid at $10.00/lb.

This year’s charity was Auto Racers for Kids, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that seeks out children’s charities in need of additional funding to provide basic necessities of life.  Since 2008, ARK has raised more than $415,000 to benefit 16 different community charities.

ARK fund raising efforts include bowling, wine tours and online raffles.  “The stories of these needy children tug at our heart strings every day and help keep ARK motivated to continue our mission.”

2022 charities who will benefit from their efforts include, Second Harvest Food Bank, Autism Society, The Refuge, Erie Dawn and The Bethesda Trinity Center.

As is often customary, the guest auctioneer will promise to “pucker up to the pork” with a celebratory smooch to sweeten the bidding activity.  No exception in 2021!
