2018 Charity Hog
Each year members of one of the Erie County 4H clubs raise a charity hog to be auctioned at The Waterford Fair Livestock Auction, with the proceeds to benefit a local charity. The Edinboro Dairy 4H club brought a 227 lb. hog to the auction and while not breaking previous sale records, the closing gavel locked in an impressive auction price of $52.30/lb. representing a total sale price of $11,872.10
The high bid was the result of a collective bidding effort, led by Fiske White Tail Deer Farm, Emma’s Board and Friends of Chris P. Bacon, followed by $1.00 /lb. contributors Kelly Erectors, Raisin Ranch Farms, Verizon Wireless, Wales Veterinary Practice and Wise Acres Farms.
This year’s charity was Emma’s Footprints; a non-profit organization providing care and support for families who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. They provide several services for loss families, from financial support for funeral costs to emotional support through group meetings and one-on-one connections with their Care Team, and so much more. Congratulations to all involved in a phenomenal effort with a very special thanks to each business and individual for their generous cash donations to Emma’s Footprints.
