2019 Charity Hog

Each year members of  one of the Erie County 4H clubs raises a charity hog to be auctioned at The Waterford Fair Livestock Auction, with the proceeds to benefit a local charity.

The Nothin’ but Dust 4H club brought a 282 lb. hog (Bud) to the auction and at the closing gavel locked in an impressive auction price of $33.00/lb. representing a total sale price of $9,306.00.

The high bid was the result of a collective bidding effort, led by Fiske White Tail Deer Farm and 4C Son Farm at $10.00/lb. each. Kelly Erectors donated $2.50/lb. followed by R.J. Majerik & Daughters at $2.00/lb.  Trans 58 kicked in $1.50/lb. along with Granny’s Ark, Kosiorek Farms, Keven Wheeler, and Ed Weaver Construction, all at $1.00/lb.  Rounding out the sale at $.50/lb. were Danielle  Styborski, Kids R Us, Raisin Ranch Farms, Michael Kuzma, North County Automotive and Verizon Wireless.

This year’s charity was The Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children; a non-profit organization which provides specialized care for children with all types of pediatric orthopaedic conditions.

Their mission is carried out without regard to race, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin or ability to pay.

Perhaps their motto, in it’s simplicity, says it all:

“No man stands so tall as when

he’s stooped to help a child”

Congratulations to all involved in a phenomenal effort with a very special thanks to each business and individual for their generous cash donations to Emma’s Footprints.
